Twelve months ago, Gunther Werks showed up to Monterey Car Week with the F-26, which was an insane twin-turbo 993 packing more than 1,000 horsepower. So returning this year with less than half that number might feel like a downgrade at first, but not so fast. There’s a bit more to the story here.
The California outfit used its slot at The Quail to unveil the GXR-Evo, and it’s the fastest naturally aspirated car in the builder’s nine-year history.

Nine Grand, Zero Boost
Behind the cabin sits a 4.0-liter flat-six co-developed with the air-cooled wizards at Rothsport Racing. The new setup is good for 455 horsepower and a redline just under 9,000 rpm. There are no turbos, no hybrid assist, and judging by the straight-pipe exhaust, we’re sure this thing sounds menacing in person.

The nerdiest detail lives inside the intake. Slide-valve throttle bodies replace conventional butterfly valves entirely, with the goal being to clear the intake tract for sharper response. All of it funnels through a re-engineered Getrag G50 six-speed manual gearbox.

The Rear Window Had to Go
The full carbon fiber body, finished in a naked 12k weave, brings the dry weight to an utra light 2,386 pounds. And that comes in at 210 pounds less than the brand’s own Coupe. For context, a new 911 GT3 out-punches it by 47 horsepower while carrying around nearly 900 additional pounds.
A towering wing and front canards provide aero support, while the rear glass has been ditched entirely for an integrated shark fin. Magnesium center-lock wheels round out the affair.

Homework Comes Standard
Inside, there’s a carbon-Kevlar Racetech seat, six-point harness, and eight-point cage anchor the cockpit, with a Motec digital display handling lap timing. There’s even a driver helmet cooling system and built-in pneumatic air jacks.

And if all of that wasn’t wild enough, it gets even better after vehicle delivery. Every owner receives a bespoke MYSIM racing simulator, hand-welded from aluminum, wrapped in carbon, and running the same steering wheel as the car. Each rig is configured to mirror the dynamics of that specific chassis, so you can practice at home before you embarrass yourself at the track.
