Polaris has consistently set the standards for capability in the UTV segment ever since rolling out its first-ever Ranger model in 1999. Never one to rest on its laurels, Polaris is now raising the bar in the utility side-by-side space with the debut of its all-new RANGER XD 1500 lineup — the world’s first-ever “Extreme Duty” platform.

Benefitting from ample customer feedback and hardcore field and torture testing, Polaris’ latest four-wheeled workhorse is aptly described by the manufacturer as being its strongest, most capable, and most comfortable RANGER model to date. The entire vehicle is constructed around an all-new high-strength one-piece steel heavy-duty chassis that boasts 160% more torsional stiffness. Fed through one of several different drive modes including comfort, sport, and tow/haul, the XD 1500’s immense power is owed to its 1,500cc ProStar three-cylinder engine. Good for 110hp and 105ft-lbs of torque, this sub-2,500lb UTV boasts a 3,500-pound towing capacity and an equally impressive 1,500-pound box cap. This liquid-cooled three-banger also benefits from Polaris’ new industry-exclusive STEELDRIVE transmission, which features all-steel-constructed belts inside a fully-sealed, liquid-cooled design. These impressive figures and capabilities are made all the more noteworthy by the fact that the RANGER XD 1500 offers the industry’s longest service intervals, with lengths that are a whopping four-to-six times longer than standard full-size UTVs.

On top of affording better throttle engagement and more precise low-speed control, this fully-sealed design also results in much quieter shifting and operation. This new Extreme Duty model also comes loaded with Hill Assist and Descent Control, 14″ wheels shod in 29″ Pro Armor X-Terrain tires, high-output LED lights all around, a Sport roof and liner, 2nd-row seating, and a RIDE COMMAND+ infotainment unit. What’s more, despite being a work-focused vehicle that wasn’t built as a go-anywhere thrill machine, the XD 1500 class nonetheless offers a very generous 12” of suspension travel along with an even greater 15” of ground clearance. The UTV also features Polaris’ new Lock & Ride MAX Accessory Integration platform, that allows the new model to accommodate an enormous wealth of optional add-ons and accessories. On top of being offered in 2-door 3-seat and 4-door 6-seat setups, the Polaris RANGER XD 1500 will initially be produced across three trim levels; Premium, NorthStar Premium; and NorthStar Ultimate.
