Pagani Automobili didn’t become one of the world’s most exclusive and elite automakers by accident or through luck. This status was achieved through a never-ending effort to constantly push the automotive envelop and via striving to constantly outdo and one-up itself with each and every new release. Christened the Pagani Imola Roadster, the ultra-elite Italian marque’s latest offering perfectly exemplifies this notion, as a spare-no-expense, race-derived drop-top loosely based on the firm’s existing Huayra R hypercar model.

Utilizing the same general platform and architecture of Pagani’s track-only R-spec hypercar, the Imola Roadster represents a more evolved take on its drop-top Huayra models like the Huayra Roadster and Huayra Roadster BC. Constructed around a super advanced chassis crafted from a combination of Carbo-Titanium HP62-G2 and Carbo-Triax HP62, the Imola Roadster benefits from extensive aerodynamics and airflow research carried out by Pagani, which aimed to deliver a suite bodywork capable of generating over 1,300lbs of downforce at speeds of just 173mph. This resulted in a new ultra-high-performance roadster-style hypercar with an even more exaggerated and effective aero kit with new exposed carbon side skirts, a new front end nose and splitter design, a massive exposed carbon rear diffuser, a partially-integrated rear wing with exposed carbon aero blades, and side rear intake scoops that now flank both sides of the drop-top Imola’s new F1 fin-inspired central roof scoop.

These new intake scoops manage to funnel even more air to the hypercar’s mid-mounted V-12. Built by Mercedes-AMG to Pagani’s exact specifications, this 6.0-liter V-12 boasts a pair of turbochargers, one of Pagani’s signature quad-tipped exhausts, and a seven-speed Pagani by Xtrac sequential AMT transmission sending power to the vehicle’s rear wheels. Thanks to a curb weight of just 2,776.67lbs, the engine’s 838hp and 811ft-lbs of torque are able to propel the Imola Roadster to a top speed that’s been electronically limited to a still very respectable 217.48mph (350km/h). Riding on seven-spoke APP forged monolithic aluminum alloy wheels shod in Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires, the Imola Roadster also gets a top-of-the-line Pagani by Brembo braking system, and a forged aluminum alloy independent double wishbone suspension with helical springs and electronically controlled shock absorbers. Best of all, unlike the Huayra R, the Imola Roadster has been homologated for road-use and boasts full street-legal status.

Available for special order now, the 2024 Pagani Imola Roadster will be limited to only 8 units worldwide. And, while pricing has yet to be unveiled, we anticipate a price tag of between $5,500,000 and $6,500,000 — based on the Imola coupe’s roughly $5,400,000 sticker.
