After an approximately half-decade-hiatus, Nissan revived its mighty GT-R model in 2007. Now, after four updates and two facelifts across its 16 years in production, Nissan has once again revealed a new and improved version of the current generation of its high-performance daily-drivable sports car with the 2024 GT-R.
Powered by a 24-valve, twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V6 that’s hand-assembled by technicians in Takumi, the latest GT-R now comes standard with a titanium exhaust system with a quad muffler setup with burnt and blued tips. Unchanged from last year, the 2024 GT-R is good for 565hp and 467ft-lbs of torque, all of which is sent to the ground through an advanced ATTESA ET-S all-wheel-drive system that’s able to vary its front-to-rear torque split. The engine comes mated to a six-speed transmission that’s run through via steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters or a stick shift. Running gear on the 2024 model year GT-R includes top-shelf six-pot calipers and independent double-wishbone front suspension and an independent multi-link rear setup backed by Bilstein DampTronic shocks. The exterior of the car has been bestowed with a redesign and facelift that see it gain a redesigned headlight and grille setup and a more advanced aero kit that produces markedly more downforce.
Offering supercar-levels of performance, the top-of-the-line GT-R NISMO gains a front limited-slip differential, an optional NISMO Appearance package, various carbon fiber elements, swan neck-style supports, revised canards, front lip, and diffusers, and new turbochargers taken from the GT3 racecar that bring the NISMO-spec GT-R’s power output up to an even 600hp (and 481ft-lbs of torque). Offered in two revived paint colors — Millennium Jade and Midnight Purple — Nissan has also revived the famed T-Spec GT-R, an up-specced model with the same engine and power output as the Premium-spec (i.e. the base model 2024 GT-R). Adorned in special T-Spec badging, this revived variant gets a slew of visual and mechanical upgrades including gold-finished 20″ RAYS forged wheels, wider fender flares, carbon-ceramic brakes, NISMO-tuned Vehicle Dynamic Control, dark Mori Green upholstery, and a combination of semi-aniline and suede upholstery for the front seats.
Though pricing has yet to be revealed, the 2024 Nissan GT-R is scheduled to hit select U.S. dealerships starting this spring, while the NISMO version of the car is slated to follow in the summer.
