After recently pulling the cover off of its next-gen 2023 Canyon, GMC has now opted to unveil its ruggedized go-anywhere AT4X version of the truck with the new and improved 2024 GMC Canyon AT4X AEV Edition — an ultra-capable turnkey off-roader born out of a collaboration between GMC and American Expedition Vehicles.

First introduced on the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500, this AT4X AEV Edition has now been bestowed upon GMC’s compact pickup model. Marking the first-ever AT4X AEV Edition Canyon model, the compact truck also gets an impressive host of tech and connectivity including GMC’s new Ultifi end-to-end software platform. Building on the already extremely competent foundation of last year’s AEV Edition AT4X, the latest model year benefits from a host of off-road elements that have been designed and engineered specifically for this compact pickup.

This comes in the form of a new 4.5” factory-installed lift kit that opens up space for a massive set of 35” Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT all-terrain tires — a full-sized spare of which comes housed in a vertical rear tire carrier. This also takes the form of no less than five ultra-high strength, hot-stamped boron steel skid plates, exclusive AEV beadlock-capable Salta wheels, auxiliary control switches, and custom stamped steel AEV bumpers front and rear — both of which boast heavy-duty recovery points while the front-end features a winch-mount point. Additional tweaks to the turnkey off-roader include a best-in-class 12.2” of ground clearance, a revised front fascia, wider tracks, a slew of special AEV branding and badging, and approach, break-over, and departure angles of 38.2°, 26.9°, and 26°, respectively.

The 2024 GMC Canyon AT4X AEV Edition truck is expected to become available for order later this year, and while pricing has yet to be revealed, we anticipate an MSRP in the ballpark of $60,000 — based on the 2023 model year AT4X’s $57,000 price.
