Ford has a long and illustrious history of rally competition that’s included claiming a trio of World Rally Championship titles. And it’s this unique part of the brand’s DNA that it’s now leaning into for its latest release, the all-new Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally.
Engineered as an all-electric turnkey rallycross vehicle, the forthcoming Mustang Mach-E Rally features a slew of noticeable differences over the existing model variants. This includes a lift kit that presumably utilizes Ford’s MagneRide Damping system with a markedly taller ride height and greater travel. Fender flares inspired by the Blue Oval’s Raptor-spec lineup have also been implemented to open up space for the rally-crossover’s increased suspension travel and new aero-disc-inspired wheels. The front of the vehicle has also been bestowed with a redesigned front fascia complete with an offset tow hook and a set of circular flush-fitting fog lamps that appear to draw influence straight from Ford’s legendary Group B era RS200 racer — albeit in a modern form. The Rally-spec crossover’s rear end also now sports a small rear wing that’s loosely modeled after the spoiler used on Ford’s Focus RS WRC racer.
Inside the cabin of the Mustang Mach-E Rally is the same fixed-position front row head restraints that are found in the GT Performance Edition of the Mustang Mach-E. And, while the Michigan marque has yet to reveal any information on this upcoming SUV’s powertrain or its power output, we anticipate this go-anywhere trim level to feature Ford’s e-AWD dual-motor setup — and quite possibly the same 480-hp lump that allows the Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition’s 3.5-second 0-60mph time. We also anticipate Ford to treat this upcoming crossover to a handful of rugged go-anywhere bits from its ever-growing Raptor and Tremor models. And, while for its teaser Ford has opted to cloak the vehicle in a camouflage paint scheme, we expect the final production model to feature several model-exclusive livery options.
While pricing, availability, and specs have yet to be revealed, the company has stated that the Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally will be available for order in the U.S. and Europe starting this Fall.
