Originally produced for 20 years from 1986 to 2006, the Acura Integra is a compact car that quickly gained a cult following in automotive tuning circles. After a decade-and-a-half-long hiatus, Acura announced in August of 2021 that it would be reviving the revered nameplate and delivering an all-new generation Integra for the 2024 model year. And while the Japanese automaker did reveal the new model’s prototype later that same year before eventually unveiling the base production model, we’re just now finally being treated to the model variant that we’ve all been waiting for; the all-new 2024 Acura Integra S Type.
Track-derived yet still daily-drivable, the 2024 Integra Type S comes loaded with an impressive host of performance parts and features all as standard amenities. This includes Brembo brakes, a limited-slip differential, 19” aluminum-alloy wheels shod in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S rubber, a MacPherson dual-axis front strut, and a multi-link rear suspension — the latter two of which are both backed by a High-Performance Adaptive Damper System. The Type S model also differs visually from the base model Integra, with an all-new revised aero kit that sports a new rear diffuser, a novel front bumper design, and a hood with a functional air inlet.
Many of the Type S-spec Integra’s components have been borrowed from Honda’s high-performance Civic Type R, including the Integra Type S’ engine. This turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four VTEC motor is only offered with a Type S-exclusive close-ratio six-speed manual transmission with a rev-matching function. Thanks to a new triple-muffler exhaust and header setup, Acura managed to squeeze out an additional 5 horsepower out over the Civic Type R, with the new Type S being good for 320hp (at 6,500rpm) and 310ft-lb of torque (at just 4,000rpm). Weighing in at 3,219lbs at the curb, this five-door liftback model also features the AcuraWatch Advanced Safety and Driver Assistive Technology suite, Jewel Eye LED Headlights, and Chicane LED Daytime Running Lights and taillights.
While pricing has yet to be revealed, the company has announced that the 2024 Acura Integra Type S is scheduled to hit dealerships in June of 2023.
