First released in 2014, the Macan — or Type 95B — represented Porsche’s first attempt at delivering a luxury crossover SUV. In the intervening years, the high-performance four-door has quickly become the Stuttgart marque’s best-selling model, and in response to the crossover’s popularity, the German automaker has revealed a new touring-focused variant of the model with the Macan T.
Porsche’s first-ever four-door model to wear the brand’s prestigious “T” badge, the T-spec Macan features a suite of performance-focused running gear and componentry that allow for a markedly more spirited experience behind the wheel. While the Macan T already comes loaded with the elite automaker’s Sport Chrono Package, a set of 20” Macan S design wheels, model-specific anti-roll bars, and Porsche Active Suspension Management as standard, Porsche is also offering an adaptive air suspension setup, as well as its Torque Vectoring Plus system as optional add-ons. The car’s exterior has also received special Agate Grey Metallic details contrasting the model’s main livery, while the crossover’s cabin has been bestowed with “Macan T” badging.
Representing a trim option between the base model Macan and the S-spec, the Macan T is powered by a two-liter, four-cylinder turbo engine that weighs almost 130lbs less than the S and GTS-spec’s 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 while still producing 261hp and 295ft-lbs of torque. Regulated via the Porsche Traction Management system and paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission and Porsche’s proprietary all-wheel-drive system, the engine allows for 5.8-second 0-60mph runs and a top speed of 144mph.
Offered as a 2023 model year vehicle, the Porsche Macan T will be available to configure and order in the U.S. starting in early Q2 of 2022. Pricing for the T-spec Macan has yet to be revealed, though we anticipate it landing somewhere in the middle between the base model’s $54,900 MSRP and the range-topping Macan GTS’s $79,900 price tag.
