Enequivicoally one of the most legendary American cars of all time — rivaled only by the likes of the Ford Mustang — the Chevrolet Corvette is nothing short of an automotive icon, first introduced in 1953 with the “solid-axle” C1 generation. Now in its eighth generation, the Corvette is currently celebrating a full seven decades in production — an occasion that Chevy has opted to mark with a run of 70th Anniversary Edition Corvettes.
Produced in limited numbers, the 70th Anniversary Edition ‘Vette comes with a host of special features and amenities all as standard. The supercar comes cloaked in one of two special edition liveries: White Pearl Tri-Coat Metallic with available Satin Gray stripes or the darker Carbon Flash Metallic with available Satin Black stripes. Further distinguishing it from the standard Corvette is a special red stripe wheelset with Edge Red brake calipers and 70th Anniversary center caps, and 70th Anniversary “Corvette Crossflags” exterior badging. The model’s mid-engined 650-hp 6.2-liter V8 also comes shrouded beneath an Edge Red engine cover. A rear bumper protector and trunk cover also come standard.
Upholstered in a unique Ceramic White Leather with contrasting red accent stitching, the interior of the cars has also been treated to red seat belts and a suede, flat-bottom steering wheel decorated with a special 70th Anniversary logo that also adorns the car’s sill plates and seats — the latter of which are two-tone GT2 items with suede inserts, though can be upgraded to available Competition Sport Seats. In addition to coming with a Special Edition plaque as well as a unique VIN sequence, each model will also include a custom matching GT-style luggage set with 70th Anniversary badging and red stitching.
Slated to enter production later this year before hitting dealerships in the summer, the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette 70th Anniversary Edition will be offered in Stingray 3LT and Z06 3LZ coupe and convertible variants. The American marque will also be auctioning off VIN# 001 of the Anniversary Edition Z06 at Barrett-Jackson’s rapidly-approaching Scottsdale sale in Arizona this weekend on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022, where proceeds will benefit the national nonprofit organization, Operation Homefront — an NPO Chevy has supported since 2017. Because the vehicle is being sold off prior to its production, Corvette will have a stand-in Corvette specimen driven onto the auction’s stage by former Corvette Racing driver Oliver Gavin.
