For years, BMW’s M range has represented its most high-performance models. Amongst the M range, the most capable cars have long been the CS-spec (or “Competition Sport”) models — the latest of which to break cover is the new and vastly-improved 2023 BMW M3 CS.

Available exclusively with an eight-speed automatic transmission, the latest M3 CS is powered by a 3.0-liter inline six that’s backed by two mono-scroll turbochargers, indirect charge air-cooling, high-precision injection, and VALVETRONIC fully variable valve timing. Generating 550hp and 480ft-lbs of torque, the M3 CS can now clock a 0-60mph time of just 3.2 seconds and offers a top speed of 188mph. The M3 CS’ aero kit features an aggressive hood design, a front splitter, roof, mirror caps, front air intakes, and rear apron and spoiler that are all crafted from exposed carbon fiber reinforced plastic.

Keeping the new M3 CS planted is BMW’s top-of-the-line track-developed Adaptive M suspension with M-specific kinematics and M Compound brakes with vented discs bit by fixed six-pot calipers. The new CS-spec M3 also comes loaded with tech such as Dynamic Stability Control, an M Dynamic mode, Cornering Brake Control, Dynamic Brake Control, drive-off assist, an active M differential, and M xDrive all-wheel-drive. What’s more, on top of a titanium muffler, the M3 CS also comes with BMW’s M Drive Professional package as a standard amenity, meaning the daily drivable sports car features a 10-stage traction control system, an onboard lap timer, and BMW’s M Drift Analyzer. Trimmed in black leather with red accents, the carbon-clad interior of the M3 CS features M Carbon bucket seats as standard, as well as a 14.9” curved display and an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel with carbon fiber inlays and paddle shifters.
