While it’s poised to unveil its new eighth-generation BMW 5 Series range later this year, that hasn’t stopped the Bavarian brand’s in-house tuning label ALPINA from giving the 7th-gen 5 one final sendoff in the form of the 2023 BMW ALPINA B5 GT.

Limited to only 250 units worldwide, the ALPINA B5 GT is being produced in sedan and sport wagon versions. Both versions of the B5 GT feature a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 that’s mated to a ZF eight-speed sports automatic transmission with Alpina Switchtronic. Good for 625hp and 627ft-lbs of torque — making it the most powerful powertrain ever produced by ALPINA — the bi-turbo engine allows the B5 GT Sedan to clock a 0-60mph time of just 3.4 seconds while the Touring-spec can reach 60mph from a complete standstill in just 3.6. Weighing 4,530.5lbs, the sedan also offers a top speed of 205mph while the 4,751-lb Touring wagon tops out at 200mph. Alongside benefitting from BOSCH DME 8.8.T engine management, the V8 has also been paired with a black titanium nitride-coated quad-tip tailpipe setup.

In typical ALPINA fashion, the limited edition models ride on the latest version of the famed tuning brand’s classic wheel design — a forged 20-spoke set that comes shod in Pirelli P ZERO rubber. The BMW ALPINA B5 GT is also equipped with a slightly lowered rear end paired with front dome bulkhead struts that together enhance the 5 Series’ handling. Trimmed in the buyer’s choice of Nappa or Merino leather, the interior of the car also boasts numerous special seat options, a numbered center plaque, and special ALPINA and B5 GT badging. And, on top of being offered in ALPINA’s traditional color options, the B5 GT is also being produced in half-a-dozen special body color choices.

Available for order now, the 2023 BMW ALPINA B5 GT is scheduled to begin deliveries in July of 2023, with pricing starting at €145,500 (~ $158,000) for the B5 GT Sedan and €148,500 ( ~ $161,300) for the B5 GT Touring sport wagon.
