In late 2020, Audi introduced the world to its RS e-tron GT prototype — a high-performance fully-electric four-door that was objectively worthy of wearing the Four Rings brand’s coveted RS badge. Soon after, this fully-electric sports car entered production, going entirely unchanged from the conceptual prototype, save for a unique TRON-esque black camo livery that was juxtaposed via bright red accents. And after more recently unveiling an e-tron GT camouflage indoor car cover bearing the same livery, the Ingolstadt outfit has now announced the release of a limited edition run of Audi RS e-tron GT project_513/2 cars wearing this same wrap.
Born out of a collaboration between Audi of America and Audi exclusive, this special edition e-tron model represents the first-ever Audi to feature a camouflage graphics-skinned and wrapped exterior straight from the factory. Taking its name from the 2020 prototype project’s internal code name, the car is outfitted with a host of unique interior and exterior details and design elements. The RS e-tron GT project_513/2 wears model-exclusive blacked-out 21“ five-double-spoke concave aero wheels fitted with red-finished ceramic brakes, plus a rear quarter glass panel etched with the “project_513/2” logo, and a roof, mirror caps, and exterior door inlays that are all crafted from exposed carbon fiber. Complemented via a red Four Rings logo and red-finished aero elements, the front-end of the special edition also boasts HD Matrix-design LED headlights complete with Audi’s laser light.
The black and red color scheme is also present in the vehicle’s cabin, which comes loaded with red-painted vents, red floor matts, a Dinamica headliner, a dash with carbon fiber inlays with camo graphics, RS-logoed illuminated door sills with carbon fiber inlays, and massaging and ventilated 18-way-adjustable sport seats trimmed in Nappa leather and decorated in honeycomb stitching. The regular production model’s 10.1” Audi MMI infotainment screen also gains a model-exclusive “project_513/2” logo in its bottom corner. Capable of doing 0-60mph in just 3.1 seconds, the vehicle is also equipped with rear-wheel steering and Audi’s Power steering plus, both as standard. Typically, the paint jobs on one-off concepts and prototypes are designed to be eye-catching rather than to appeal to a mass market, making it particularly interesting that Audi is actually selling this high-performance fully-electric special edition as a limited production vehicle — an area made all the stranger by the fact the livery is of the camo variety and was designed to hide the car’s lines.
Limited to only 75 units for the North American market, the 2023 Audi RS e-tron GT project_513/2 is scheduled for a release this spring, with pricing set at $179,900. Each of the 75 project_513/2 units are also being sold with an included piece of “special edition VIN art” consisting of Vehicle Identification Number-derived portraits that are printed on a thin aluminum plate with a high-gloss surface.
