Late last year, after months of unvalidated rumors, Yamaha finally pulled the cover off of the prototype of its Ténéré 700 Raid adventure bike — a rally-grade, factory-upgraded T7 brimming with componentry from the GYTR parts bin. And after only a few short months, the Tuning Fork Company has now released the production version of the ADV model with the Ténéré 700 World Raid.
While it may not sport the protobike’s camo livery, Akrapovič exhaust, MX-style front fender, or bronze wheels, the production version of the World Raid T7 has been equipped with a host of hardcore off-roading bits. This includes a flat, rally-inspired two-piece seat that allows the pillion to be removed to accommodate luggage racks or bags, switchable three-mode ABS, a larger skid plate, a redesigned, full-length, multi-piece front fairing and radiator shroud, an air filter that’s been redesigned to survive more extreme environments and conditions, and 6.07-gallon capacity dual side-mounted fuel tanks that afford it a range of roughly 310 miles between fillups.
Built around a steel double-cradle chassis, the bike is powered by Yamaha’s liquid-cooled 689cc CP2 parallel-twin engine that’s good for 72.4hp and 50ft-lbs of torque. Offering almost 10” of ground clearance, the model also sports an adjustable Öhlins steering damper with 18 settings, a rally-grade 43mm inverted KYB fork affording 9” of travel, and an aluminum piggyback rear shock with 8.66” of vertical action. Other highlights include a MyRide App-connected 5” full-color TFT display, and a special blue livery with yellow accents that pays homage to Yamaha’s Gauloises-sponsored Dakar Rally racers from the ‘80s and ‘90s.
Available now in select markets, the 2022 Yamaha Ténéré 700 World Raid starts at £11,600 (~$15,700), though the company is also offering a host of available factory upgrades such as Gilles Tooling billet adjustable levers, an Akrapovič slip-on muffler, and hard luggage, just to name a few. Yamaha’s website also features an online configurator that allows you to build out your own World Raid-spec T7.
