With Tokyo Auto Salon 2022 gearing up this week, automakers throughout the world are debuting concepts and future models to stake their claim in the space this year. In particular, Japanese luxury car manufacturer Lexus made a statement today by unveiling the latest and greatest form of its famous SUV, the LX. By teaming up with 36-year-old Japanese parts manufacturer JAOS, Lexus has created a more rugged and capable “OFFROAD” version of the LX, which aims to bolster Lexus’ lineup of off-road vehicles.
Marrying refinement, luxury, and ruggedness, the LX 600 “OFFROAD” JAOS takes the rough-and-tumble design of the current LX 600 “OFFROAD” and adds JAOS’s adventure-based design language to it. What results is an aggressive-looking luxury SUV that marries Lexus’ high-end elegance and JAOS’s off-roading expertise. It brings with it the smooth curvature that you look for in luxury SUVs and injects the edge that many find appealing for off-road vehicles to create a perfectly tasteful marriage of styles. Better yet, the JAOS version sports custom hardware that adds utility to its nuanced design. This version of the LX 600 includes high rigidity infusion-molded CFRP parts on its exterior, such as front bumper skids, rear bumper skids, and over fenders. What’s more, the JAOS version of SUV sports a pair of slick 20-inch ENKEI-made wheels that “TEAM JAOS” developed over the course of its rally career. The rims are particularly good-looking, boasting a “Titanium Gold” color, which continues the JAOS version’s luxe off-road theme. Wrapped around these beauties are TOYO OPEN COUNTRY all-terrain tires.
Lexus’ collaboration with JAOS is a welcomed surprise that further exemplifies the brand’s commitment to meeting the ever-diversifying needs of its customers’ lifestyles. The Japanese automaker will be displaying the custom SUV at JAOS’ booth at the Tokyo Auto Salon, which officially kicks off on January 14.
