Honda’s Civic Si Gets an Updated Turbocharged Engine & Sportier Makeover

Having been around for a bit less than forty years, it’s safe to say that Honda’s Civic Si is one of the more beloved and affordable sports cars that the auto market has come to know. Pushing that trend forward goes hand-in-hand with pushing the envelope, which is what the Japanese mega-manufacturers have delivered with their 2022 Honda Civic Si.

The latest rendition of the Si boasts retuned suspension, for which Honda has labeled their 2022 model the best handling to date. Adding to that, they’ve updated the car’s VTEC 1.4L turbo-four engine with 200 horsepower and 192 lb.-ft. of torque and mated it to an improved short-throw 6-speed manual transmission with the Civic Type-R’s rev-matching system. One of the sport sedan’s more eye-catching features is Individual Mode, which has been implemented into its Drive Mode system. The new feature allows drivers to take full reign over their performance and appearance with customization options across engine response, steering effort, and even various color choices for the panel display. The Si’s interior has been revamped with red accented seats, modeled for body stabilization thanks to their built-in head restraints and bolstered shoulder and thigh support, making for a cabin that’s as sporty as it is homey. This is also the first Civic Si that comes equipped with a 9-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto Integration, all of which are topped off with a Bose Centerpoint 2 premium sound system, the latter of which serves as a standout feature unto itself.

While this car’s specifications take a solid handful from the Type-R, the latest reveal surely sets a new standard for performance for cars of its caliber. As it stands, Honda has not revealed any pricing information about the new Civic Si, but you can sign up for early access to the vehicle on Honda’s website.
