Over the past couple of decades, automakers around the globe have elevated the public perception of pickup trucks. Designed to be utilitarian work vehicles in the late 1800s, the ubiquitousness of pickup trucks in recent years has led to a bevy of luxurious iterations. GMC extends this trend with their latest line of Sierra 1500 trucks. The updated lineup brings with it the first-ever Sierra Denali Ultimate trim and the all-new Sierra AT4X.
GMC is hailing the Sierra Denali Ultimate trim as the most advanced and luxurious Denali they have ever made. The Sierra Denali Ultimate comes with the standard 6.2L V8 engine, however, its technological and aesthetic upgrades are truly noteworthy. The introduction of the Super Cruise feature gives drivers hands-free assistance and can be used on over 200,000 compatible roads in the country. It also boasts an array of trailering features such as 14 available camera views, a GCW Alert that signals when the truck has reached its maximum towing capacity, and Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert which aids lane changing by calculating the length of the trailer. The Sierra Denali Ultimate trim also comes with a new, stylish interior featuring full-grain leather, a 12-speaker Bose sound system, and a 15-inch diagonal multicolor heads-up display. In the off-road arena, the Sierra AT4X takes center stage with new Multimatic dampers, a Terrain Mode that enables one-brake rock crawling, and front and rear e-brake differentials. GMC also calibrated the chassis and suspension to make the Sierra AT4X perform better off-road.
The Sierra AT4X also comes with a newly designed front grille, fascia, and new dual-projector LED headlamps. On its interior, GMC updated the center console design, added a 13.4-inch-diagonal infotainment touchscreen, and a 15-inch heads-up display. Pricing for the Denali Ultimate starts at $80,395, while the AT4X starts at $74,995. The 2022 Sierra 1500 will be available for purchase from GMC dealers early next year.
