Whether deep in the backcountry, on the beach, or simply in your backyard, there’s nothing quite like gathering around a bonfire with friends. And while preparing these fires has traditionally been a bit of a hassle, the prospect of erecting an off-grid grill or fire-pit just got markedly easier thanks to the introduction of the Yoka Bonfire Cooking Fire Pit

Designed in Tokyo and made in Japan, the Yoka Bonfire Cooking Fire Pit was penned by Takashi Tsunoda, who drew from his years of experience programming virtual puzzle games in order to deliver a modular all-in-one grilling station and bonfire that can be used practically anywhere. Crafted from steel, this four-piece design is comprised of two leg sections that are connected via a combustable fuel tray before finally being capped off with a removable laser-cut grill grate that can be set at three different heights. This four-piece structure measures 19.6” W x 12.8” H x 10.6” D when assembled but can be broken down and can pack flat into a markedly more compact 23.6” W x 1.6” H x 13.8” H form.

What’s more, the entire thing is also completely interlocking, not requiring the use of any tools or hardware to be assembled or broken down. The use of non-slip patches integrated throughout the design also ensures that the grill remains stable, even when on uneven terrain. Tipping the scales at just 14lbs in total, the entire system also comes with an included storage and carrying case made from eco-friendly hemp. The overall simplicity of this design coupled with its lack of moving parts and rugged construction practically guarantees a lifetime of use, too.
