YETI Shrinks Its Overbuilt GoBox Into an Everyday Gear Vault

Even though today they’re known for toughness in all categories, from water bottles to can crushers, YETI started out in the world of rotomolded coolers. Launching in 2008 with the Tundra, the Texas-based company has always placed cases and coolers as its cornerstone. They’ve since expanded to the world of non-insulated, Pelican-style gear cases with the Loadout GoBox collection in 2019. Amazing for overland and adventure use, these 15-, 30-, and 60-liter cases always beckoned for a smaller sibling. And that’s where the GoBox 1 comes in.

The Smallest of the Bunch

Six years after introducing the GoBox lineup, YETI rounds out the family with its most compact iteration yet. At just under 10″ long and weighing 1.7lbs, the GoBox 1 is purpose-built for EDC essentials like phones, keys, wallets, and park passes. It’s the answer for anglers who need a waterproof vault for licenses, hunters requiring secure storage for permits, and anyone hauling gear in harsh environments who’s tired of Ziploc bags failing at the worst possible moment.

Where the larger GoBox models lean into expedition-grade organization, the GoBox 1 strips things down without sacrificing the brand’s signature overbuilt construction. Inside, there’s a removable tray and a silicone PackAttic divider that accommodates most smartphones while keeping smaller items corralled. It’s straightforward organization, but then again, you’re not managing a full loadout here — just the stuff that matters when you’re miles from civilization.

Built to Take a Beating

YETI constructs the GoBox 1 from the same Defender II material found throughout the lineup — a PC-ASA thermoplastic alloy that balances impact resistance with UV durability. The case meets IP65 and IP67 ratings, meaning it’s both dustproof and fully submersible. Whether it’s bouncing around a skiff, strapped to an ATV door, or buried under camping gear in a truck bed, your essentials stay bone-dry. And the single-button latch system snaps shut with the same satisfying thud you get from YETI’s coolers.

Made from flexible TPU, a tether strap loops and locks around grab rails, MOLLE webbing, or saddle rigging, keeping the case hands-free when you need both available for more important tasks. When not in use, the strap sits flush against the bottom of the case, staying out of the way until you need it. It’s also compatible with YETI’s soft coolers and bags via the HitchPoint Grid, integrating into the brand’s broader ecosystem. At 1.7 pounds, the GoBox 1 isn’t featherweight, but that heft is deliberate. This isn’t a case designed to disappear.
