Founded in 2006, YETI built its name and reputation on the strength of its ultra-rugged outdoor-focused coolers, though in more recent years the Austin-based outfit has expanded its catalog to include a range of other pieces of outdoor gear including bags, gear cases, camp chairs, field blankets, and drinkware, just to name a few. And after the success of its existing Outdoor Living collection, the brand has now taken on yet another off-grid essential with the debut of the YETI 12″ Cast Iron Skillet Kit.
In order to bring this skillet to life, YETI joined forces with Butter Pat Industries —a boutique Maryland-based cast iron cookware outfit that’s also the sister brand of the Cowboy Cauldron Company. Using Butter Pat’s signature artisan manufacturing process, each unit is cast entirely by hand, which allows for a smoother and thinner skillet that offers incredibly balanced heat. This technique also makes for a lighter skillet too, making it more portable and that much more camp-friendly. Additionally, each skillet is polished and pre-seasoned — all in America, and all done entirely by hand.
YETI and BPI have also bestowed the skillet with an ergonomic handle and dual pouring spouts. The skillet is also completely devoid of any potentially harmful polytetrafluoroethylene treatments or Teflon-style coatings. This 12” skillet also comes in a kit that includes the skillet itself, alongside an included scraper tool and a chainmail-style metal ring rag. Rounding out the kit are several limited edition YETI stickers, as well as a cottage storage bag. While it admittedly doesn’t come cheap, this heirloom-quality skillet is engineered to afford a lifetime of use — before being passed down to the next generation who can start the same cycle over again.
Making for a fantastic piece of camp cookware or a stellar addition to any home kitchen, the YETI 12″ Cast Iron Skillet Kit is available now, with pricing set at $400.
