Worksharp might be best known for their sharpeners, but the RMX Reverse Tanto proved they could actually build a blade worth carrying. And now it’s back, this time in a limited edition version that’s been dipped head to toe in all black – just the way we like it.

Reserve Series Means Limited

The new RMX Reverse Tanto Blackout is part of Work Sharp’s Reserve Series, which is the brand’s label reserved for small-batch runs that come and go. So if you slept on the standard version, you’ve now got another shot – and in a stealthier version at that.

Everything wears black Cerakote here, blade and handle alike, and it’s more than just a pretty pain job. The coating layers extra corrosion resistance over the magnesium and steel underneath, so the stealth treatment pulls double duty.

Featherweight, but Tough

The full-size handle is milled from a single piece of magnesium, which happens to be the lightest structural metal you can build a knife from. This means the finished folder tips the scales at just 2.40 ounces. For a 3.2-inch blade and a full-size grip, that’s impressive to say the least.

The blade is CPM-3V, a tool steel prized less for record edge retention and more for sheer toughness. Pair that with the reverse tanto’s reinforced point and you’ve got a folder built to take a beating. A deep finger choil and jimping along the spine keep your grip indexed for the precise stuff too.

Pick Your Deployment

Of course, the RMX’s party trick carries over here, which is a single screw that swaps the knife between manual and push-button automatic. Work Sharp includes the auto cartridge, torsion spring, and tools right in the box, along with an “oops kit” of spare hardware for the screw you’ll inevitably lose to the carpet.

Will you actually convert it more than once? Probably not. But it’s a smart way to let you pick your own legal lane, and the option is nice to have. A reversible deep-carry clip rounds things out, and popping it off exposes a lanyard hole.
