Since 2010, Victorinox’s annual Damast Limited Edition has been a way for the company to showcase its creative chops and veer a bit from tradition. Inventing the Swiss Army Knife back in 1897, the Swiss company has found a way to transform its flagship multi-tool into a coveted collector’s piece. The 2025 Special Companion Damast is the 16th entry in this series, and it’s arguably the most stunning we’ve ever seen.

Kitchen Countertops Meet Cutlery
Bringing the historic Swiss Army Knife into the modern day like we’ve never seen before, Victorinox trades the brand’s signature red scales, which it’s been using for well over a century, for matte white Corian. This is the same acrylic polymer blend used in high-end kitchen countertops and is unconventional to say the least, albeit makes perfect sense for a tool designed to endure daily abuse (that is, if you ever take this out of its display case). With its minimalist white finish, the scratch-resistant surface will keep its stone-like appearance even after years of carry, while each knife’s speckled pattern ensures no two pieces are identical.

Blade of Glory
For the main blade, Victorinox partnered with Sweden’s Damasteel AB, who uses a powder metallurgy process to creates patterns impossible to achieve through traditional forging. The 2025 edition features the Svavner pattern, which is a slight deviation from your typical Damasteel effect.
At 60 HRC hardness, the blade combines RWL 34 and PMC27 steels, delivering superior edge retention and corrosion resistance compared to standard stainless steel. The 2.83-inch main blade handles daily cutting tasks while the rest of the twelve functions (in regular stainless steel) are selected for their utility for everyday tasks. These include a smaller drop-point blade, spring-loaded scissors, a corkscrew, a bottle opener, two screwdrivers, a box opener, a wire stripper, a corkscrew, and more.
Weighing just 3.2oz and stretching 3.6” in length when closed, the Special Companion is perfect for the outdoors or the office. There’s also a keyring on the end for attaching this to a lanyard.
