Say “Swiss Army Knife” and most people picture the tiny toolbox in your pocket. And while Victorinox built an empire on that template every so often, the brand puts the multi-tool playbook down and makes a knife that’s just a knife.
The Evoke Wood Damast Limited Edition 2026 is their latest EDC folder, and it’s the 17th installment in Victorinox’s annual Damast series. Victorinox rarely misses with these releases, and this year’s drop is one of the prettiest the lineup has produced.
A Folder, Not a Multi-Tool
The Evoke is a single-blade lockback knife. There’s no saw, no scissors, no awl hiding in the handle. The whole thing is built around a 3.875-inch drop point and a back lock that gives you proper cutting confidence rather than the wobbly nail-pull deployment of a classic SAK.
Open it up and you’re at 9.19 inches overall, which puts it firmly in full-size territory. A far cry from the standard keyring-friendly Victorinox, this could even be considered on the larger side for many.
The Star of the Show
The blade is the real selling point here, forged from 115-layer Gysinge Damasteel. For the uninitiated, this is the high-end Swedish-made stuff that real Damascus nerds get excited about. Hardened to 60 HRC, it sits in that sweet spot where it’ll hold an edge nicely through real work without becoming too much of a pain to sharpen. The acid-etched pattern is wild in the best way possible, looking like a topographic map melted into a blade.
The plane tree wood scales are sustainably sourced and grain-matched per knife, meaning no two of the 7,000 are identical. The hidden detail is the steel liners peeking through the wood scales’ contoured cutouts, which carry their own swirling Damasteel pattern. It’s a sneaky bit of visual continuity that will certainly help elevate the appeal for collectors.
Built for the Display Case (But It Could Cut)
At 6.28 ounces with a 0.112-inch blade stock, this thing has some real heft. The lockback mechanism, removable thumb stud, and lanyard hole all signal a knife that’s meant to be used, although we do imagine this nearly $500 Damasteel folder to be more of a garage queen than actually putting in true field work.
Each knife arrives in a presentation box with a certificate of authenticity, and the edition number is burned directly into the wood scale. It’s certainly a collector’s piece dressed in working clothes, but we’re definitely not mad at it.
