Founded in Walden, New York, the Schrade Cutlery Company is an American knife brand that’s been in operation for well over a century. Over the company’s nearly 120-year-long history, Schrade has primarily focused on rugged and utilitarian blades and tools, primarily operating within the budget and mid-tier knife spaces. However, for 2022, the East Coast cutlery outfit has debuted a new line of premium knives with what’s been christened the Alpha Series.
Made entirely in America, Schrade’s tactically-inspired Alpha Series is being rolled out with five initial blades, though we anticipate the brand to expand the collection over time. The first of the five knives is the TRUIX Pivot Lock Folder, a 7.5” item with an AXIS-style pivot lock-equipped set of textured white and black G-10 handles paired with a CPM-S35VN tanto blade. Next is the ENTICE Push Button Auto, an automatic folding knife with an S35VN bayonet-style blade and a frag-pattern set of aluminum handles. The Alpha Series also features a stainless steel-handled balisong mated to a D2 steel modified clip point blade that’s secured via a spring-latch lock.
An even more premium offering, the Alpha Series’ MELEE Auto Folder is a U.S.-made push-button auto with a locking safety slide, a textured G-10 handle, and an S35VN tanto blade. At the top of the new collection sits the RADOK Pivot Lock Folder. The knife features a set of forged carbon fiber scales adorning a slide lock-equipped frame, and a modified Wharncliffe blade with a swedged spine that’s made from S35VN and deployed using Ultra Glide Technology.
Available for order in the coming weeks, the Schrade Alpha Series knives start at $200 for the TRUIX Pivot Lock Folder and the ENTICE Push Button Auto, goes up to $220 for the ALKEMYST Butterfly Knife, and tops out at $250 for the MELEE Push Button Auto Folder and the RADOK Pivot Lock Folder.
