In June of 2019, 31 years after the debut of the original Sebenza, Chris Reeve Knives released the Sebenza 31 — an ultra-top-shelf folding knife that’s now widely viewed as the holy grail of premium everyday carry blades. And with a major proclivity for delivering some of the very best gear that money can buy, it’s frankly unsurprising that Prometheus Design Werx has now partnered with the legendary Boise-based knifemaker to produce a limited run of PDW x CRK SPD Edition Sebenza 31 knives.
With the Sebenza already seen as about as close to perfection as an EDC knife can get, Prometheus Design Werx has opted to bestow the knife with a small series of minor tweaks that add extra character without compromising the folder’s unparalleled performance or utility. This includes the Sebenza’s set of 6AL-4V titanium handles being decorated with a milled PDW Kraken Trident Logo and a gray 550 paracord lanyard.
Made by hand in Idaho, the SPD Edition of the Sebenza 31 is being offered in two sizes. Tipping the scales at 4.7oz, the Large-spec packs a 3.61” blade and measures 8.40” when open, while the Small variant weighs in at 3oz, boasts a 2.99” blade, and spans 6.98” overall with its blade deployed. Like the regular Sebenza models, the SPD Edition retains the standard folder’s Reeve Integral Lock and ceramic ball (detent) interface, titanium pocket clip, and blue-anodized lanyard pin and single-sided thumb-stud. The top-shelf titanium handle is mated to a flat and hollow-ground drop point blade with a stone-wash finish that’s crafted from CPM S45VN — an ultra-premium blade steel born out of a collaboration between Crucible Industries and Chris Reeve.
Produced in extremely limited quantities, the Prometheus Design Werx x Chris Reeve Knives SPD Edition Sebenza 31 knives are available now, with pricing set at $505 for the SPD Edition Sebenza 31 Small and $580 for the SPD Edition Sebenza 31 Large. Alongside the new Sebenza 31 variants, PDW has also restocked the small and large sizes of its PDW x CRK SPD Edition Inkosi knife — which are also priced at $505 and $580, respectively.
