Hyperice’s Normatec compression boots have become favorites of high-profile athletes and physical therapists to aid with post-workout recovery and injury control. However, this high-tech (and expensive) footwear isn’t necessarily sleek or mobile. However, with the latest collaboration between Nike and Hyperice, active recovery might be changed forever.

How Does the Tech Work?

Originally designed to treat patients with circulation or muscular issues, compression boots work by inflating air around your feet and legs at controlled rates, moving the pressure upwards as a sort of message. Known as intermittent pneumatic compression, this technique reduces inflammation, helps with blood flow, and removes metabolic waste from your body.

Aside from those with preexisting health issues, compression boots can also help prevent injuries or aid with post-workout recovery to reduce soreness. While those with a compromised circulatory problem do benefit from these boots, the jury is still out on whether or not they help healthier people — although many professional athletes swear by them.

Nike x Hyperice Compression Boots Basics

With this new option from Nike and Hyperice, the stigma on ugly compression boots can be a thing of the past. Tapping into the athletic footwear giant’s knack for aesthetic design and the tech behind the Hyperice X line, these recovery boots are not only something you can wear on the go but they look quite stylish as well. Obviously focusing on the foot and ankle rather than the entire leg, the compression boots are made to be worn when walking around, traveling, and even doing some light warmups, with battery packs placed in each insole.

For comfort and lightweight durability, the boots also utilize comfortable phylon foam. The interface on the boots is simple, with four buttons on each heel: on/off, heat, compression, and pause. The heat and compression each feature three intensity settings and can work individually or in tandem. You can also just pick one foot to activate at a time. Along with compression, applied heat also helps with blood flow and muscle relaxation. Hyperice’s dual-air Normatec bladder system is bonded with the heating apparatus for even heat distribution.

There’s Also A Temperature REgulating Vest

Hyperice and Nike have also come out with a vest designed to regulate your body temperature. Featuring thermoelectric coolers, the vest can cool down or heat up right away. These are intended for track and field athletes who need to conserve energy in often hot outdoor environments. It also aids with boosting warmups or cooldowns.
