As the world’s most popular performance wear manufacturer by a landslide, Nike tends to stay a foot ahead of its competition. Upon unveiling its latest pair of marathon running shoes, the Air Zoom Alphafly NEXT% 2, the Beaverton-based brand expects athletes to do the same.
The innovative shoe provides unrivaled performance capabilities for long-distance runners. Upon taking bits and pieces from what the notorious record-breaking first generation had to offer, as well as implementing some integral improvements, Nike’s updates revolve around improving stability and transition for all runners. The NEXT% 2 boasts a full-length ZoomX foam midsole with a pair of Zoom Air pods, the latter of which have been bolstered with additional foam, paving the way for more energy return with every stride you take.
Similar to the preceding pair, as well as countless other high-end running shoes, the new Alphafly also features a full-length curved carbon plate. Lastly, the upper is now crafted using Atomknit 2.0, which provides much-needed forefoot containment, toe box breathability, and additional padding in the tongue area. The second-gen Alphafly’s predominantly white prototype colorway takes inspiration from the shoemaker’s marathon athletes, serving as a tribute to its athlete-centric development process.
Like most premium running shoes from Nike, stock for the Air Zoom Alphafly NEXT% 2 in the prototype colorway is very limited, but more colors will be released in the near future.
