Retro aesthetics and colorways have made their way into every industry these days. Nostalgia is a powerful drug and everyone from backpackers to athletes has expressed themselves with color schemes that take them, and us, back to the good ol’ days. Of course, Topo Designs has been an advocate of the old-school palette for some time now with its bags and accessories in the brand-favorite red, yellow, and blue pattern.
Now, Topo Designs has teamed up with iconic multi-tool company Leatherman for a retro version of the ever-popular Skeletool multi-tool that sports a handle in that same Topo colorway. Leatherman has multi-tools with 14, 19, or even 21 different tools built in, but the Skeletool was made to have just the essentials; a smaller range of unique tools for everyday use.
For its collaboration with Topo, Leatherman gave the new Skeletool 8 different tools: needlenose pliers, regular pliers, hard-wire cutters, wire cutters, a 420HC combo knife, a bottle opener, a large bit driver, and a carabiner. The multi-tool comes in a sheath of the same color, made from 1000D nylon on the outside and 420D nylon for the interior. It’s given a YKK zipper with a paracord pull for an agility boost when opening and closing and is attached to an aluminum carabiner.
At a mere 5oz and 4″ long when closed, the Skeletool makes for an effortless addition to your EDC layout. This fun new version will be available from both Leatherman and Topo Designs’ websites starting May 31 and is limited to just 2,500 pieces.
