If you aren’t familiar with Leatherman’s excellent range of multi-tools for literally any type of occasion, then you must be living under a rock. To say the least, the Oregon-based gear brand has been dominating the category ever since the debut of its revolutionary Pocket Survival Tool (PST) in 1983. But a few weeks ago, we were blessed with their very first crack at a premium knife collection. We’ve touched on aspects of this remarkable USA-made range a couple of times in the past month, but now we’re shining light on the Trac, an outdoor-focused fixed blade that can do just about anything in the wild.

Tackling everything from field-dressing game to wilderness foraging, the Trac is a true precision instrument you’ll need whether you’re camping or bushwhacking. It features a 4.2-inch drop-point MagnaCut stainless steel blade with a hollow saber grind for solid cutting power and a 60-63 HRC hardness rating. For enhanced grip and control, the spine’s jimping also gives the knife extra stylistic touches.

Sporting a full-tang construction with radiused edges for a shadowbox effect, the knife gets an ergonomic, sculpted G10 handle with custom fasteners and lots of grip, which is crucial for unexpected conditions in the wild. It’s designed for either horizontal or vertical carry, and with either left- or right-handed individuals.

Available in Alpine, Earth Brown, and Jet Black colorways, the Trac is one of three fixed blades in the new collection, along with the 5-inch Pioneer tanto blade and the flat-grind Rustle santoku for camp cooking. Just like the others, the Trac comes with a premium vegetable-tanned leather sheath made from hand-stitched, American full-grain cowhide. The lanyard loop at the butt of the knife gives you quicker access here as well.
