Gerber has built its reputation on producing immensely capable, built-to-last knives and gear that are sold at a fair price. And for the Portland-based blade purveyor’s latest release, the company is doubling down on this MO with an accessibly-priced utilitarian workhorse of a folding knife known as the Slimsada.
The Slimsada is constructed around an ergonomic handle design with a Micarta scale on one side, and an exposed stainless steel slab and framelock on the other. The lock-side of the knife also boasts a Micarta pinch-plate set in the middle of the lock bar, preventing it from over-extending while adding a bit of additional visual flair. The handle also features exposed barrels and a stamped steel pocket clip.
Mated to the Slimsada’s 4.55-inch handle is a 3.47” blade that’s composed of D2 tool steel with a stonewash finish. Deployed via a thumb hole opening, this modified sheepsfoot-meets-drop point item also benefits from the use of Gerber’s patented B.O.S.S. Tech ball bearing system — guaranteeing a smooth, consistent, and effortless action. Tipping the scales at just 2.68oz, the Slimsada measures 8.03” overall, making it compact and pocketable enough for everyday carry while still packing a ton of utility.
