Field Notes Finally Releases the Long-Awaited Leap of Faith Editions

Last December, Field Notes co-founder Aaron Draplin went rogue, “hijacking” the company site to announce the release of, and sell pre-orders for, an upcoming notebook design that only he alone had been working on. The nebulous post was equivocal at best, but the Field Notes faithful knew we were in for a treat and couldn’t wait to see what was in store for the EDC notepad company.

Now, the American-made designer-stationery company has finally released what it’s calling the Insubordinate Issue “Leap of Faith” DDC Edition, a set of notepads featuring 18 distinct covers with some combination of “Obstreperous Orange,” “Gremlin Green,” and “Obfuscating Olive” colored images, and then stamped with orange or green crown foils. Both the cover and innards are printed by Lake County Press via the usual Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 105 40″ UV printing press and are bound by the Stitchmaster ST 270 5-pocket saddle stitcher.

Like always, the Leap of Faith will be 3.5″ by 5.5″ and contain 48 pages of 3/16″ ruled memo paper. This will fall alongside Field Notes’ spring quarterly release, “Signs of Spring,” which displays a textured yellow cover in honor of the season. Leap of Faith is also released side-by-side with a new “Remember It Now” t-shirt emblazoned with the Field Notes credo, put out in cheeky “retaliation” of Draplin’s clandestine post.

Each of Leap of Faith’s 18 distinct covers will be packaged randomly into sets of three (that’s 816 unique combinations for those who are counting) to be sold on the Field Notes online store for $15 a pack and will be a limited edition of 9,999 units.
