The EDC category and urban milieu can often go hand-in-hand. But seldom does the gear we stow evoke the pavement we’re traversing. From watches to pens, the following everyday carry loadout is inspired by cement-filled sidewalks.
MINUS-8 Diver GMT

There are plenty of heritage watchmakers out there, but few modern-day brands are as promising as MINUS-8. Untethered to decades of lineage, the Bay Area-based company has brought a fresh face to the category. We particularly love their Diver GMT model, housed in a 40mm grade 2 titanium case and matching bracelet. Inside, the Seiko NH34 automatic caller-style GMT movement lets you track a secondary time zone, which is perfect for anyone traveling or dealing with people in different parts of the globe. We particularly dig the watch’s brutalist architecture and legibility-focused dial design, which also boasts 200m of water resistance.
Kershaw Cryo

Kershaw’s industrial-style Cryo is a durable, assisted-opening folder that punches way above its $76 price tag (or less if on sale). A collaboration with designer Rick Hinderer, this award-winning pocket knife features a 8Cr13MoV stainless steel blade with titanium carbo-nitride coating. The coating is also given to the steel handle for a rad monochromatic effect.
22STUDIO Seven Ballpoint Pen

Writing pens are no longer merely utilitarian utensils. Today, there seem to be just as many design-forward options as there are basic ones. One such brand with a knack for style and quality is 22STUDIO, a Taiwanese firm specializing in writing tools and other stationery. One of our favorites is this heptagonal ballpoint pen made from high-density concrete and featuring ergonomic housing that holds excellently in your hand.
Oakley Holbrook Metal

Few modern sunglasses are as legendary as Oakley’s Holbrook. The square-framed lifestyle shades debuted in 2010 with a shape inspired by silver screen icons such as James Dean. And then in 2017, the California-based eyewear brand began fitting the models with lightweight sheet metal frames (seen here in monochromatic gunmetal) to go along with the popular Prizm lenses and adjustable nose pads. The lenses themselves are polarized and made to withstand high-velocity impact.
