In the fast-growing world of at-home exercise equipment, it’s hard to find anything that hasn’t been done yet. With innumerable smart gyms and workout class subscriptions available, just about every possible way to get fit has seemingly made it into your home. Some brands, however, are still looking to create the next big thing, and Echelon may have done just that. With the reveal of its EX-8S Connect Bike, the brand looks to deliver an industry-first to a circle that’s practically seen it all.
As yet another Silicon Valley band of innovators on the market, Echelon’s tech capabilities are put on full display here — literally. Implementing a state-of-the-art curved, 24-inch touchscreen monitor — the first-ever curved display on a home exercise bike — Echelon looks to enhance the interaction between you and your workouts, making for an enveloping gym-like environment in the heart of your own home. On top of that, the display is capable of turning 180 degrees so you can better take advantage of Echelon’s catalog of off-bike classes. Of course, this screen is very striking, but what may be even more conspicuously cool is the new Connect Bike’s LED-clad “Flywheel” dual-wheel design which is synchronized with your workout metrics, be it heart rate and overall output. While these color-changing lights are automatically set to go hand-in-hand with your routine, their 15 colors are also capable of being adjusted to your liking, rendering the sleek design rather like a light cycle from TRON. The bike also introduces Echelon’s integrated Bluetooth Resistance Controller, which attaches to the handlebars and allows for quicker adjustments to the magnetic resistance as you ride.
Currently available to pre-order starting at $2,000 for the EX-8S alone, anyone looking to get a headstart on their workout regimen for 2022 should take a look at Echelon’s latest reveal.
