The DGR’s Auctioning Off Ten Custom-Painted Hedon Moto Helmets For Charity

Founded by Mark Hawwa, The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride was first held in Sydney, Australia in 2012, starting out as a small group ride, before eventually becoming an annual global event that’s since raised more than $30M for men’s mental health programs and prostate cancer research on behalf of the Movember Foundation. For the tenth anniversary of the DGR, Hawwa — who is also the founder of moto eyewear brand Skram — has organized a helmet charity auction in collaboration with the event’s official brain bucket sponsor Hedon.

Dubbed the “Decade Of Dapper Helmet Auction,” the sale includes ten bespoke-painted versions of Hedon’s Hedonist helmet model. To bring the project to fruition, DGR and Hedon called on ten eminent artists from the moto and lifestyle space, asking each to lend their artistic expertise and own unique styles to penning a one-off helmet design. This includes artists from across the planet including Bradley Eastman, Chris Piascik, Helen Stanley, Joel Clark, Kayla Koeune-Weisel, Luke Wessman, Maxwell Paternoster, Mo Coppoletta, Sindy Sinn, and skateboard legend-turned moto enthusiast Steve Caballero. Despite all being based on the same helmet model, each item being sold boasts an incredibly idiosyncratic flavor and appearance and can either be worn while riding or proudly displayed as a work of art. In typical DGR fashion, all of the proceeds of the sale will go directly to The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride’s charity partner, the Movember Foundation.

At the time of writing, the DGR x Hedon Decade Of Dapper Helmet Auction has four days remaining until the sale ends. While some of the helmets have already seen bidding surpass several thousand dollars, there are still a few lids that have yet to exceed $800, giving interested parties the opportunity to acquire a bespoke-painted helmet from a world-renowned artist for only a few hundred dollars over the Hedonist’s regular $475 MSRP.
