Bentley Mulliner’s Batur Gives Us the Most Powerful W12 Engine Ever

Back in 2020, Bentley unveiled the ultra-limited-edition Bacalar, its open-top tourer sporting Mulliner coachwork and a near-$2 million price tag. Only 12 examples were made, all of which sold out in hours. Today, the British luxury automaker has announced a follow-up to the Bacalar, which will be unveiled this weekend at Monterey Car Week.

Bentley Mulliner’s Batur, named after the Indonesian lake, is an upcoming coach-built model from Bentley’s Mulliner line. Mulliner is the oldest coachwork brand in the world, whose roots go back to the 16th century until it began making luxury carriages in the 18th century. This new tourer will utilize contrast to fuse classic features with contemporary cleanness. Not much is known about the Batur, but the marque has noted that it will establish a new design ethos leading into the upcoming battery electric vehicle (BEV) range, which is set to roll out in 2025.

The Batur will also utilize the most powerful version of the iconic W12 engine ever built. Already prominent in the Continental GT, the 12-cylinder will be paired with Bentley’s most state-of-the-art chassis system ever to produce an exceptional amount of power and torque. As for the design, the automaker is offering an unheard-of level of customization on the new vehicle, which allows the buyer to personalize the color and finish for every surface, with more unique options available that include sustainable natural fiber composites, low-CO2 leather, and 3D-printed 18K gold.

Keep an eye on Monterey Car Week this weekend, where Bentley will reveal more information about the new Mulliner Batur on August 20 at 8 pm PST.
