Audio-Technica Unveiled a Pair of Self-Cleaning, Noise-Cancelling Earbuds

To say Audio-Technica has been on a roll the last week would be an understatement. From transparent turntables to a nearly $3,000 pair of headphones, the brand has been wheeling out one gadget after another, and its new pair of self-cleaning earbuds are here to garner some spotlight.

The heritage audio brand’s ATH-TWX9 is the latest set of in-ears from its long line of devices, but the most innovative element behind them lies far beyond sound, albeit they seem sonically notable in their own right.
As with every pair of wireless earbuds, the new release features a pocketable charging case, but it goes beyond juicing up your gadget, as it sterilizes them using UV light. This innovative technology has become commonplace thanks to the rise of smartphone sanitizers, but to kill all the germs and bacteria piled up in a pair of earphones in a matter of 70 seconds is unlike anything we’ve seen yet.

In addition to this remarkably mindful tech, the premium buds offer all of the traditional elements you expect to find on similarly-priced options, including adjustable noise-canceling, Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity, and 360 Reality Audio courtesy of Sony. That said, they also boast 5.8mm drivers and Snapdragon Sound for optimized quality whether listening to music or the other side of a phone call.
