Since its inception in 2004, the Ford GT has epitomized American supercar performance. Its iconic shape — evolved from the original Ford GT40 race car of the 1960s, legendary power, and exclusivity have made it iconic throughout the automotive space. Though Ford discontinued the GT after only two years of production before reintroducing the second generation of their mid-engine supercar in 2017, the first-generation Ford GT remains one of the most appreciated American supercars among casual fans and enthusiasts alike. With only 2,022 2005 Ford GTs in existence, owning one requires a lot of money and a lot of luck just to find one. And, as luck would have it, we found a gorgeous example of one that is up for auction at Bring a Trailer.

This 2005 Ford GT (chassis number 1FAFP90S75Y401250) is in prime condition. In particular, the car is one of 766 to feature a Mark IV Red exterior finish. Powering this gorgeous supercar is a mid-mounted, supercharged 5.4L V8 engine attached to a six-speed manual transmission with a helical limited-slip differential. This stout engine produces an output of 550HP and 500lb-ft of torque. It retains the factory options such as forged aluminum BBS wheels, red brake calipers, and a McIntosh stereo system, though its current owner added equipment like HID headlights, fog lights, and air conditioning. Moreover, this Ford GT sports Ford GT side graphics as well as side air intakes, a vented hood, a front splitter, a rear diffuser, and center-exit exhaust pipes.

The 2005 Ford GT’s exterior beauty transfers nicely to its gorgeous, ebony leather interior and matching dashboard, and rubber mats cover bare aluminum floors. What’s more, the interior features Sparco-designed seats that are complemented by carbon fiber shells, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and aluminum toggle switches. Perhaps best of all, the car’s odometer indicates only 1,000 miles, and it has a clean chain of title. The current bid for this 2005 Ford GT is $350,000 with four days remaining, so head on over to Bring a Trailer if you can do better than that.
