The Ford Bronco is not only one of the more iconic American-made cars of the last century, but it also served an important role as the first-ever sports utility vehicle when it made its worldwide debut in 1965. It was a hit vehicle and beloved by the masses, even after it was discontinued in 1996. That enduring popularity led to the Bronco’s blockbuster rebirth in 2021, but there is still a large swath of people who prefer the classic Broncos to the new hotness. Thankfully, one is up for auction now, so you better get your bids ready.

The particular car being offered is a 1979 Ford Bronco Ranger XLT that features a 400ci V8 engine that’s mated to a three-speed automatic transmission. Its powerplant is topped by a FiTech Go Street EFI 400-HP fuel-injection kit that was installed by a prior owner, and other modifications to the Bronco include a 4″ lift to its suspension and added air conditioning. This Bronco also includes a red vinyl and cloth interior, a center console, a removable fiberglass hardtop, and a towing package. Those worried about the wear-and-tear of Father Time can rest easy; this particular Ford has been stripped and had rust repair performed on the rear quarter panels and the doors. From there, the truck was repainted in black and accented with delightfully-’70s red and yellow Chromatic-stripe decals. Moreover, the Bronco sports 15″ wheels that have been powder-coated in white and are mounted with 33×12.50″ Cooper Discoverer MTP tires.

On the inside, the captain’s chair is upholstered in a handsome red vinyl, and its rear bench features a patterned cloth trim. It has an 85mph speedometer (which shouldn’t be much trouble to bury with 400 horses under the hood), a worn steering wheel, and its mileage is unknown. This stylish piece of automotive history is currently going for $26,000 on Bring a Trailer, though that value is likely to increase before the auction ends in one day.

Purchase: $28,000+
