With numerous resorts, trains, and cruises in their broad portfolio, Belmond is a hospitality service that has been providing vacationers with nothing short of the most decadent architecture in some of the most premier regions throughout the world. The company has recently partnered with a stylistic wizard and known train aficionado in Wes Anderson, as the renowned filmmaker collaborated with them to design his own whimsically affluent rendition of a carriage in their British Pullman train.
The Cyprus Carriage is one of the British Pullman’s eleven separate options and boasts quite a hefty filmography in its own right, having appeared in films such as Dustin Hoffman’s suspenseful Agatha and the absurdly well-reviewed Paddington 2. With assistance from the Houston-bred auteur, this carriage now takes on much of the playfulness of the latter. Its pastel-pink ceiling bounces off an innumerable amount of green shades that appear through plush carpeting and elegantly stunning seating arrangements. On top of that, the walls boast incredible marquetry work, exuding his innate sense of wonder with stars and sunbeams dressing up wooden panels all across.
For those who haven’t seen The Grand Budapest Hotel, or even The Royal Tenenbaums, Anderson’s admiration for trains is far from undocumented, as the former practically takes place entirely on a rather opulent one; that is, of course, barring scenes where they appear in the film’s namesake. Luckily, for fans of his, big or small, Belmond is offering guests the opportunity to reserve a spot in this carriage on their upcoming train ride. While attempting to travel across the globe has most certainly been easier in prior years than it has in the most recent two, taking your next vacation on Wes Anderson’s own train is something out of a movie that sounds difficult to pass up.
