As one of yesteryear’s most beloved summer blockbusters, it may be hard to pin Ghostbusters as a legit Halloween movie. Be that as it may, the 1984 hit remains a family favorite and a cultural phenomenon. Now, you can spend this Halloween living vicariously through Venkman and Co. by booking a three-night stay at the iconic firehouse.
While the precisely recreated rental space isn’t in the heart of Manhattan, the Portland-based, three-story firehouse is fully-kitted with each detail down to the Ghost Containment System and cupboards of StayPuft Marshmallows — we recommend keeping an eye out for the latter. Moreover, the first thing you see upon walking in is Ghostbusters secretary Janine Melnitz’s desk (with authentic business cards to boot). Countless other references to the cult classic include scattered Ghost Traps, Proton Packs, and, of course, the Ecto-1 found in the apparatus bay.
This spooky vacation is thanks to Vacasa’s recent partnership with Sony Pictures, although the former is no stranger to similar, seasonally-themed getaways. Last year, it offered the opportunity of spending the week leading up to Christmas in the Grinch’s cave — how’s that for getting in the holiday spirit? Additionally, Vacasa will be donating proceeds to the Oregon Volunteer Firefighters Association.
The question is no longer “Who you gonna call?” but rather, “Will you answer the call?”. Vacasa’s listing for the Ghostbusters Firehouse opens on October 21 for a nightly rate of $19.84 in honor of the film’s release year.
