Introduced in 1983 before seeing its first widespread use in the Gulf War in ’91, the Humvee is almost certainly the most iconic military vehicle of all time. Officially known as the “High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle,” the Humvee is primarily characterized by its strength, speed, resilience, reliability, and overall tactical nature. And it was these defining traits of the light armored vehicle that have served as the inspiration for Tekto Gear’s latest knife, the Humvee Automatic OTF.
Made in America, the Humvee Auto OTF is constructed around a textured handle that’s been precision built from aerospace-grade 6061-T6 aluminum. Spanning 5.40”, the handle has also been outfitted with a button lock, a glass breaker, and a deep carry pocket clip with an integrated lanyard hole. Additionally, the handle also features a highly-calculated, ridged thumb slider switch that boasts a 63% push slope, and 37% retract slope, making it incredibly easy to deploy the blade — even when wearing tactical gloves.
The Humvee’s handle has been paired with a 3.80” partially-serrated double-edged dagger blade composed of D2 steel. Rated at between 60 and 62 HRC for hardness on the Rockwell scale, this already rugged D2 blade has been further fortified via a titanium coating. And, while it was designed for military applications, the Humvee OTF is also just as conducive to civilian and EDC use — not unlike the iconic military truck it gets its name from. Tipping the scales at just 5.4oz (or 0.33lbs), the Humvee measures 9.30” overall, too.
The Tekto Gear Humvee Automatic OTF Knife is available now with pricing set at just $220. What’s more, Tekto is currently giving HICONSUMPTION readers an additional 15% off when using the code “TEKTO15” at checkout — bringing its price down to only $187.
