Military personnel, law enforcement, and other first responders tend to only utilize ultra-rugged and highly-utilitarian pieces of gear, with these individuals having to trust their’s and others’ lives with the kit they carry. As a result, the equipment used by soldiers and first responders typically does a stellar job of lending itself to everyday carry applications. Spanning 7.78″ overall, the F1 Alpha is constructed around a G-10 or carbon fiber handle set that’s been outfitted with an anodized backspacer, an ambidextrous pocket clip, a lanyard hole, and a glass breaker. The 4.50” handle also features a liner lock with strategically-placed jimping that makes it incredibly easy to disengage the mechanism — even when wearing gloves. Rounding out the handle is a custom-anodized backspacer and matching accent hardware.
Assembled in Maine, the F1 Alpha sees its handle paired with a custom-designed 3.10” modified straight back blade with a full flat grind. Rated at between 55 and 62 for hardness on the Rockwell scale, the F1 Alpha’s blade is composed of a premium D2 steel that’s been further fortified via a hardwearing titanium coating. The F1 Alpha’s blade is also deployed via a jimped flipper tab and guided by a state-of-the-art ceramic ball-bearing mechanism that affords a remarkably smooth action. What’s more, between the jimping at the base of the blade’s spine and the diagonal texturing along the handle, the knife also offers excellent grip.
