First introduced in 1990 alongside its big brother the Endura, the Spyderco Delica is an immensely popular everyday carry knife, lauded for its impressive durability, ample utility, and accessible price point. In 2006, the Colorado-based knifemaker debuted the current fourth-generation Delica, bestowing the fan-favorite folder with a bigger thumb hole, a revised blade profile, and jimping along the thumb ramp.
As a near-perfect design, Spyderco’s Delica 4 has gone almost entirely unchanged over the last decade and a half, save for the release of up-specced model variants with upgraded constructions, such as this new top-shelf CPM S30V-bladed version. Weighing in at an ultra-svelte 2.29oz, the Delica 4 is crafted around a set of teal FRN handle scales set over a skeletonized stainless steel liner with a sturdy Lockback mechanism. Designed in America and made in Seki City, Japan, the Delica 4 features a black-finished 2.875″ CPM S30V drop point blade that’s deployed via the brand’s signature ambidextrous thumb hole opening and smoothly guided by a set of phosphor bronze pivot washers.
The 4.25” teal handle is also contrasted by a slew of black features to match the blade, including the Lockback, hardware, and four-way reversible pocket clip. And, between the knurled thumb ramp, the Delica’s incredibly ergonomic handle design, and Spyderco’s patented bidirectional handle texturing, the 7.125″ knife affords remarkable levels of grip and control, even in wet conditions and/or under hard use. What’s more, the Delica’s screw handle construction also makes disassembling, cleaning, and adjusting the knife a breeze.
