From wigwams to treehouses, kitschy hotels have intrigued vacationers for decades. However, few luxurious resorts allow the inhabitants to appreciate their surroundings in nature.
The minds behind the Igloo Beach Lodge in Costa Rica are now using their expertise on a new resort in the Cascade mountain range in northern Washington. Enlarging the floorplan to 700sq.ft and adding a domed skylight up above, the Oculis Lodge is designed for transitory visits but has the look and feel of a high-end studio apartment. Each cocooned unit sleeps up to 6 individuals, with a kitchen, dining room, and sunken living room down below and a lofted bedroom accessible via a ladder.
Above your head, the 15-foot skylight allows you to appreciate the stars in the night sky, with the help of a complimentary telescope. Additionally, each room comes with a 6-person jacuzzi, a sauna, home workout equipment, a washer and dryer, and a furnished outdoor patio that’s perfect for both group hangouts and personal time.
With an Indiegogo campaign that runs through December 31, the Oculis Lodge currently has early bird offers that include single-night stays for just $359, with 50% discounts for those who reserve 5- or 7-night stays, although prices will continue to go up.
