Luminox’s New Navy SEAL Foundation Watch Sports a Desert Sand Dial

Presented by

The Navy SEALs trace their roots back to the early 1940s when a military task force was originally conceived as a way to covertly survey for coastal or land breaches following the attack on Pearl Harbor. A decade later, the Underwater Demolitions Team during the Korean War allowed what would eventually become the Navy Sea, Air, and Land Teams to fine-tune their combat skills and training. When the Vietnam War called for special operations to combat guerilla warfare, President Kennedy formally acknowledged the United States Special Forces in 1961, and the Navy SEALs were officially born. Since then, the amphibious unit has become one of the most important fixtures in the United States military, filled with some of the toughest and most skilled individuals on Earth.

There’s no doubt why Luminox would choose to be the official partner of this special forces unit. Since 1992, the watchmaker has made timepieces specifically for the Frogmen themselves, and in 2020, Luminox released its very first watch for the Navy Seal Foundation, which supports SEAL veterans and their families. With the American brand’s latest version of the Navy Seal Foundation watch, Luminox has outfitted the timepiece in a desert sand dial color to pay homage to the military men and women who served in Afghanistan and the Middle East. Numbers for military time are also inscribed on the inside of the dial, with the numerals and indices in black.

This Swiss-made timepiece houses a RONDA 715 LB395 quartz movement inside the 45mm stainless steel case, which has 200m of water resistance and a black uni-directional bezel that’s made from lightweight CARBONOX. Additionally, the screw-in stainless steel caseback is engraved with the Navy SEAL Foundation logo. Just like every Luminox watch, this new timepiece is given the brand’s proprietary Light Technology so that it glows in even the darkest conditions for up to 25 years.

Available with two strap options, in sand nylon and black rubber, the Luminox Navy SEAL Foundation watch goes on sale this July for $695 via Luminox’s online store.
