Everyday Carry: Legacy

Presented by

With how consumer-focused the world has gotten over the last few decades, it’s easy to understand why people view much of everyday carry gear as disposable and replaceable. After all, that’s kind of how we’ve come to think of everything nowadays. From low-budget products like toothbrushes and socks to big-ticket purchases like smart televisions and even automobiles, it seems like everything outlasts its usefulness in a matter of years at most. And while we can’t speak to folks getting perhaps a bit bored with their everyday carry loadout from time to time, we would like to encourage people to start asking themselves why they think they’re constantly in need of the “latest and greatest” gear. In truth, if you’re careful about what you spend your money on and you take good care of it once it is in your possession, you could feasibly have an everyday carry loadout that will last a lifetime or more. Stylistically and from a quality perspective, it’s that exact thought process that led us to put together this week’s EDC pocket dump. This gear boasts timeless styling and, when treated with care, could eventually be handed down to your children and perhaps even your children’s children.

The James Brand Pike Knife

As if anyone needed further proof that The James Brand is a brand to be trusted, respected, and admired, they’ve gone and produced another spectacular old-meets-new EDC pocket knife they’ve named the Pike. Inspired by the non-locking slipjoint folders carried by our grandfathers, this take boasts a timeless silhouette — marked by a Wharncliffe blade shape and a pill-shaped handle — pared with Sandvik 12C27 steel for the blade and a combination of stainless steel and G-10, Micarta, brass, or wood (depending on the colorway you choose) for the handle.
