Now, architecture aficionados have been granted the opportunity to stay at the Tokyo home thanks to a recent listing on Airbnb.
Upon being restored by Kurokawa’s son, the “single-family villa” has been equipped with retro control panels, fully encapsulating the retro-futuristic appeal that the home exuded to begin with. While Kurokawa’s iconic Nakagin Capsule Tower Building garnered countless campaigns to be saved, it was ultimately disassembled earlier this year. Considering this, the appeal of sleeping in the late Metabolist leader’s charming home grows, oh with its bubble windows and all other details.
Optimally, the home is suitable to accommodate up to five guests overnight. However, accounting for the futons in its thoughtfully-designed tea room, Airbnb’s listing suggests seven people can sleep in the Capsule House K at once. One of the most notable things you’ll find here is an eclectic library corner filled with a book of different souvenirs previously owned by the famed architect.
