Alpha Motor’s REX Is a Fully-Electric Retro-Inspired, Adventure Utility Vehicle

In late 2020, California-based EV startup Alpha Motor Inc. unveiled its Alpha ACE — a two-door roadster with a heavy 1960s influence. Since that time, AMI has revealed ten additional models, including a station wagon, four-door, and off-road versions of its flagship model. And while the company still has yet to bring a production vehicle to market, Alpha has now pulled the cover off of its latest all-electric automotive offering with the all-new Alpha REX.

Created through a collaboration with Los Angeles-based fashion label Free & Easy, the REX is described by Alpha as an “adventure utility vehicle” — or “AUV.” The REX is offered in a single-motor RWD setup or with a dual-motor 4WD configuration — the latter of which affords a 3,000-lb towing capacity, a 6.2-second 0-60mph time, and a range of between 250 and 275 miles on a single charge. The REX also boasts a slew of off-road-focused elements such as a skid plate, steel bumpers and tow hooks fore and aft, a grilled circular LED headlight arrangement with optional grilled auxiliary lights, an available full-length roof rack, and 16” to 18” wheels shod in BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A tires.

The interior of the vehicle offers seating for four passengers, along with 43.3 cubic feet of cargo space, a Bluetooth-connected premium sound system, and a wide format central display supplemented via a digital driver’s display. There are also numerous upholstery and trim options for the REX’s cabin, seats, and dash. Free & Easy has also lent one of its signature “Don’t Trip” logos for the REX’s spare wheel cover.

The Alpha Motor Inc. REX Adventure Utility Vehicle is available for reservation now, with pricing starting from $46,000 to $56,000 depending on specs and options.

Purchase: $46,000+
