The resale market for sneakers is beyond messy, and the OGs have had it. To make the experience of picking up a vintage pair of kicks more accessible, Air Jordan rehashed the famed Chicago 1s with all the old-school details fit to match their original release.

From cracked leather accents dancing across the forefoot to a well-aged Nike box filled with all the nostalgia-inducing wrapping paper of yesteryear, this iteration of such a classic shoe takes things to the next level. The sneakers even come packaged with a hand-written receipt, insisting that they were found in the back of some store’s shop for decades and never sold — sure, there’s no way a pair of Jordans didn’t sell back in the ‘80s, but it’s wishful thinking.

In regards to these details, as well as its relatively off-colored midsole, Nike writes that it lets you “step back to the beginning of the hoops revolution.” And while that’s true in every regard, the shoe beyond that. There’s no denying the groundbreaking silhouette’s ceaseless effect on the population, and that applies to people who couldn’t care less about basketball and simply love the shoe itself, going to show that the Air Jordan 1 is an icon across the fashion spectrum as much as it is the sports world.
