Aclim8 Debuts a Streamlined Version of Its Insanely-Rugged COMBAR Folding Axe

Created and developed over the course of five years by a team of ex-Israeli Special Forces operators, the Aclim8 COMBAR unequivocally stands as one of the most rugged and well-crafted outdoor and survival tools on the planet. And while there’s no denying the unparalleled durability and immense utility of the Aclim8 item — which won a prestigious Red Dot Design Award in 2019 — the nearly $500 MSRP of the base model COMBAR Titanium places the tool out of the reach of a great many outdoorsmen. Knowing this, the crew at Aclim8 returned to the drawing board in an effort to deliver a more affordable and streamlined take on the multi-tool, resulting in the all-new Aclim8 COMBAR FoldaXe.

Offering the performance of a full-size axe in a markedly more compact package, the COMBAR FoldaXe is constructed around an ultra-hardwearing glass-reinforced polymer hollow handle that’s equipped with a 5” x 2.5” hardened 420J2 stainless steel blade axe head. Reinforced via 7075T6 aircraft hard-anodized aluminum, the axe head boasts the ability to pivot, enabling it to serve as a hammer or splitter. What’s more, the folding axe and hammer head also lock into place. The FoldaXe also features a magazine-style storage compartment with a rail-guided sliding cover and a textured grip that neatly stows away in the handle, though this same space inside the handle can also be used to accommodate Aclim8’s PRO Kit (folding saw and fixed blade knife, shown below).

Available now, the Aclim8 COMBAR FoldaXe is priced at $199. Aclim8 has also released a PRO-spec FoldaXe for $349 that includes the folding saw and fixed blade drop point knife that stow away inside the tool’s handle — the same hardwearing items found in the original COMBAR and COMBAR PRO.

Purchase: $199+
