Ford introduced the first-ever Tremor model in 2002, though this inaugural nameplate merely consisted of an upgraded sound system package for the Ranger pickup. Just over a decade later in 2013, the Blue Oval rolled out its first Tremor performance package with an up-specced 12th-gen F-150, marking the first in a long line of increasingly capable turnkey off-road pickups — the latest of which sees this ruggedized go-anywhere treatment bestowed upon the Ford Maverick pickup truck.
Building on the already-capable FX4 Off-Road Package, the Tremor-equipped Maverick features an advanced all-wheel-drive system with a twin-clutch rear-drive unit with a differential lock. As one would expect, the Maverick Tremor’s stock suspension has been upgraded to an off-road-specific package with up-specced springs and a 1” lift. Powered by Ford’s 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine, the Maverick Tremor also sports an advanced all-wheel drive with four-wheel-drive lock. The Tremor also rides on a set of exclusive 17” off-road aluminum wheels that are anodized in orange and dark gray and wrapped in all-terrain tires. A revised lower front fascia — coupled with the 1” lift — affords the Maverick Tremor a better approach angle while a factory skid-plate fortifies the undercarriage should the truck exhaust its ground clearance.
Also equipped with Ford’s exclusive Trail Control feature, the Maverick Tremor retains the regular model’s 2,000-pound tow rating and 1,200-pound payload capacity. Ford is also producing a Tremor Appearance package that sees the compact pickup gain a unique grille finish, blacked-out Ford logos and lighting, a pair of orange tow hooks, and a carbonized gray-finished roof, mirror caps, and black side graphics on the hood and lower body. The interior of the truck also sees a number of Tremor-exclusive elements such as black onyx seats with stitched Tremor logos and Tremor Orange accents. The Maverick Tremor also gains a heavy-duty transmission cooler, upgraded half-shafts, and five selectable drive modes including dedicated pavement, mud, sand, and snow modes.
Slated to enter production later this fall, the 2023 Ford Maverick Tremor Off-Road Package is priced at $2,995 — or $1,495 for the Tremor Appearance package. Offered on the $23,360 XLT-spec and $26,860 Lariat Maverick, both packages will also be available for order starting in September of 2022.
